Root & UnRoot Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime Tablet TF101, TF201

I know most of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime users are waiting for this tutorial How to Root & UnRoot ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime Tablet TF101 and TF201 on official Android 4.0.3 ICS Firmware. Asus Transformer Prime is a high end Android Tablet that created lots of buzz previous year. This Tablet placed itself in a thin line between Netbooks and Tablets. Powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, it is one of the most powerful Android Tablet till now. Recently, xda dev member Sparkym3 has rooted the device and reported that the Sparky root tool is working on latest OTA updates of Asus Transformer TF101 and TF201. He has also confirmed that he will keep updating this tool to work on all latest updates.
Pre-Requisites:

  • The methods and procedures discussed herein should only be applied to ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime Tablet TF101 and TF201 models. You can check the device model number by following through Settings > About Tablet. Then you will get the details of tablet model which you are currently using.
  • Make sure that your Transformer Prime tablet TF101 model must be version 9.2.1.11 or earlier. Other Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 must be firmware version  9.2.4.15 or earlier. If your TF201 model have loaded with latest firmware version 9.2.4.21, then this rooting procedure will not work for you. Beware of using this tutorial and you need to wait sometime to get the rooting process for exact firmware.
  • Please charge your device so that at least 70% charge is there with it, to assure that there is no Power interruption during the process.
  • Backup all essential data’s on your phone, as they may be lost during the process.
  • Disable all security programs like Antivirus and Firewall from your computer and uninstall the same from your device, as these security suites generally tend to interrupt the process.
  • Enable USB debugging in your Transformer Prime from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The option of USB Debugging should be ticked.

Steps and Procedure to Root Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime Tablet on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Firmware:

1. First you need to download SparkyRoot apk app package from here to your Tablet directly.

2. Now, to simply install the SparkyRoot app on your Tablet, please follow the on-screen instructions for installation to do so.

3. Next, tap through the exploit for moving the files, and replacing the busybox files.

4. Now, open the ASUS app Backup tool and then create backup for security purposes, skip the steps if you want and move ahead.

5. After the installation has completed, select the option “install SuperUser” so that Super User App can be installed in your Tablet. Now, select the option “cleanup” to remove all the unwanted apps from your tablet, and to revert the busybox.

Steps and Procedure to Unroot Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime Tablet on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Firmware:

1. For unrooting of your ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime Tablet you need to have the same file instructed above to download. Latest version has inbuilt Unrooting features.

2. Once you launch the app you can see unroot button on left side click it to continue the process. It will allow users to easily Unroot their Tablet and also remove Superuser app and busybox.

The downloaded file is v1.3, is latest and offers many enhancements and error fixes. This latest version comes with Unroot option also, while the old version has no Unrooting options.
